Customizing the iconic Jedi weapon is one of the most rewarding features in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Players begin their journey with limited choices, but as the story progresses, a wide array of vibrant blade options becomes available. Understanding how and when these customization options unlock helps players tailor Cal Kestis's adventure to their personal style.

Starting Lightsaber Colors in Jedi Fallen Order

When starting the campaign, players are granted immediate access to two classic Jedi blade colors: Blue and Green. These can be freely swapped early on at any workbench found aboard the Stinger Mantis or across different planets. Additionally, players who received special updates or specific content releases can access the vibrant Orange blade from the very beginning of their journey.

These starting choices provide a great foundation for role-playing Cal's journey as a Padawan navigating a dangerous galaxy. Swapping between available options is purely cosmetic and does not alter combat performance or stats. However, each color features distinct visual effects and unique hum sounds when swung in battle.

Unlocking Additional Kyber Crystals on Ilum

The vast majority of lightsaber colors are locked until players reach a pivotal story moment late in Chapter 5. Cal travels to the icy world of Ilum to harvest a new Kyber Crystal after his original lightsaber breaks. Navigating through the frozen Jedi Temple requires solving environmental light puzzles to gain entry to the crystal chamber.

Upon reaching the center of the temple, a cinematic sequence allows players to choose a new primary crystal. This event instantly unlocks five new distinct shades: Purple, Yellow, Cyan, Magenta, and Indigo. Once unlocked, all of these options permanently become available for selection at any workbench.

How to Change Your Blade Color at Workbenches

Changing your lightsaber color after unlocking new Kyber Crystals is a simple and quick process. Players need to locate a workbench, which can easily be found near the rear interior of the Stinger Mantis or scattered across planetary hubs. Interacting with the bench opens up the full customization menu for emitters, sleeves, switches, and blade hues.

Navigating to the color tab lets you preview how each shade illuminates Cal's weapon. You can switch your blade as many times as you like throughout the remainder of the story. Experimenting with different combinations allows you to match your lightsaber appearance with various outfits and BD-1 skins.
